The role of the worship assistant (WA) is to help facilitate the worship service. The WA leads prayers and the creed, as well as helps with the distribution of communion. The pastor is always there to help if needed.

We believe that worship is a powerful means of connecting with God and experiencing His presence in our lives. Ushers help facilitate this by inviting people into our worship space and handing out bulletins. The ushers also take up the offering and invite people up for communion. Anyone can be an usher.

The acolyte is responsible for lighting the candles before the worship service and snuffing them out before the worship service. In scripture, we are told that our prayers rise up like incense before God. The candles being lit are a reminder that what we do in worship does enter the heavenly throne room.

The altar guild is responsible for setting up communion, the pivotal moment in our worship experience. They also change the paraments (colorful garb around where the altar is). Those paraments are used to help set the atmosphere for worship.

The crucifer plays the crucial role of reminding people that we are here to worship and have an encounter with God. They lead the procession into and out of the worship experience by carrying the cross. The crucifer or worship assistant receives the offering plates from the ushers. This is an opportunity where kids can serve.

The reader is the one responsible for making the scriptures come alive. We believe that hearing the Word of God helps people to come to faith. As such, this is an important role reminding people of God's mighty acts through our Old Testament, Psalms, and Epistle reading.
