St. Martin's In-The-Fields Episcopal Church
St. Martin's is an episcopal church in the Columbia area that is affirming of all people including the LGBTQ+ community. They offer weekly services that are welcoming to LGBTQ+ people as well as a variety of programs to be involved in. Each month St. Martin's hosts our second dinner by providing a warm meal, cold beverages, utensils, bags of supplies for the youth, and team of wonderful volunteers!
Transitions Homeless Shelter
Transitions Homeless Shelter's youth program offers transitional housing services, general case-management services, and reunification services to homeless youth ages 18-24. Transitions welcomes their youth program participants to attend Safe Space by allowing transportation to our dinners.
MIRCI
MIRCI's supportive housing program offers stable housing to youth that are male between the ages of 16-21. The program provides their youth with independent living skills to set them up for success after their stay with MIRCI. MIRCI welcomes their youth to attend Safe Space by allowing transportation to our dinners.
Palmetto Place Children and Youth Services
Palmetto Place offers comprehensive services to homeless and housing insecure youth ages 15-24. Through services such as an emergency shelter, a program to assist unaccompanied youth, a transitional housing program, and aftercare services. Palmetto Place partners with Safe Space by bringing the youth that live in their group homes to our dinners.
Yew Belong Community Services
Yew Belong provides professional and culturally responsive counseling services through a team of dedicated clinicians and clinical interns with focuses on LGBTQ+ affirming and specialized care. They also offer LGBTQ+ focused clinical groups, training and consultation, and outreach services. A clinician, sometimes joined by an intern, attends our dinners and can be a listening ear or can help provide compassionate care to our attending youth.
Richland Library
Richland Libraries do not just provide checkout from collections of items such as books, movies, vinyl records, and more but they also provide comprehensive community services such as social work services and notary services. Volunteers that work at different locations attend one our bi-monthly dinners and provide attendees with an interactive activity and/or service.
University of South Carolina
USC's College of Social Work NASW accredited program allows students at the university to obtain Bachelors and Masters degrees in Social Work. Masters level social work interns work with Safe Space both at dinners to help carry out the dinner itself and provide needed care and behind the scenes to help keep Safe Space running with organizational tasks.
Safe Space Dinners also partners with many other community organizations that provide educational opportunities, activities, supplies, and more to our attending youth.
